Some Cultures Are Better Than Others

The idea that all cultures are equally worthy of respect has crept its way into the West beginning at some point in the past century. Being the case that cultures exist in many places and impact many aspect of life itself it seems a reasonable proposal to subject the idea of the equal distribution of respect of cultures to some scrutiny. Scrutiny is not of value simply for scrutiny’s sake, it stands to reason that mankind owes to itself an exhaustive examination of any and all ideas which begin to propagate in the minds of the many. In that spirit, mankind must determine the validity of whether or not all cultures are indeed equally worthy of respect.

What are cultures, if not a collection of similar ideas held by people who do life within relative proximity to each other? Universities have cultures, employers have cultures, families have cultures, and nations have cultures. Cultures exist everywhere. Among the existence of a seemingly endless variety of different cultures, some do better than others in different aspects. The question of whether or not all cultures are created equally is secondary to whether or not all ideas are created equally. In the West, we’ve accepted the notion (though some choose to supplant it), that all men are created equal.
